Buchanan Boys Win Sixth Consecutive State Wrestling Championship and Marina Girls Win First State Wrestling Crown
Jennifer Soto 6th Female Wrestler in Girls Championship 10-Year History to Win Three State Titles
BAKERSFIELD, CALIF. — The CIF State Wrestling Championships concluded on Saturday as the Buchanan boys won their sixth consecutive State title, seventh overall scoring 270 points. Rounding out the top three boys teams were Poway (256.5 points) and Clovis (174.5 points) securing second and third place respectively. For the girls, Marina won their first State Championship scoring 92.5 points, with Gilroy (68 points) placing second.
Individually, Jennifer Soto (126-pounds), a senior from Gilroy, became only the 6th wrestler in CIF State Girls Wrestling Championship 10-year history to win three State titles. Additionally, Jo Forman (143-pounds), a junior from Montclair claimed her second State Championship.
