Participation Census

2023-24 CIF Participation Census Data will be collected from March 1 - April 5, 2024

As voted on and passed during the February 3, 2023, CIF Federated Council Meeting there is now a bylaw in place regarding the CIF Participation Census.

CIF Article - 22.B.13 Membership/Conditions of Membership

By the first Friday in April of each school year, member schools are required to submit to the State CIF their CIF Participation Census. If after a reasonable number of requests from the CIF State and/or Section offices, a school continues to be delinquent with submission of its CIF Participation Census after May 15, the school will be immediately notified that its CIF membership will be suspended effective June 15. Reinstatement of membership will be made upon receipt of the completed CIF Participation Census. Reinstated schools will not be allowed to host any Regional or State playoff contest in any sport for a period of one (1) year from the time of sanction.

Additionally, it is California law that all public primary, secondary, and charter schools offering competitive interscholastic athletics must report on their school website (or district website if no school site exists) information about boys’ and girls’ athletic participation by the end of each school year.

The CIF Participation Census, conducted since 1991, can assist in compiling the data needed to fulfill this mandate. Please review the following document which provides an example of a sample posting of compiled participation data. CLICK HERE for more information
