What are Inclusive Sports?

In November 2016, the CIF officially partnered with U.S. Special Olympics, U.S. Paralympics and the California Department of Education to provide opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in high school athletic programs.

What is Unified Sports?

Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. In Unified Sports, teams are made up of people of similar age and ability.

What is a Para-Athlete?

Students with physical disabilities have opportunities to participate in CIF Para-Athlete programs, modeled after U.S. Paralympic sport offerings.  Currently there are events for Para-Athletes in the CIF State Championships for Track and Field and Swimming.
