SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – The top California high school teams in each division will compete for the State title during the 45th CIF State Girls Volleyball Championships Friday-Saturday, November 17-18, on the campus of Santiago Canyon College, Orange.
This year’s event features seven teams with previous State Championship history, while Campbell Hall (DII), Redwood (DIII), Glendale (DIV), Crystal Springs Uplands (DV), and Oceanside (DV), are all making their first appearances, to make up the 12 teams in the 45th year of the State tournament.
Archbishop Mitty (14-5) is currently undefeated against Mater Dei (1-3) in State Championship history (3-0) as the two face off in the Open Division for the second time (previously in 2017) and have two additional meetings in Division II (2003-04).
In Division I, Palos Verdes (0-1) returns to the title game after finishing runner-up last year, while Valley Christian (2-2) returns to the State Championships for the first time since 2016.
In the Division III match Sacred Heart Cathedral (1-4) is in search of their second crown after their win back in 2014.
Ripon Christian (2-0) returns to the State Championships after winning the DIV State title last year, but this year the Knights are featured in Division III.
In Division IV, Marin Academy (1-0) looks to remain undefeated after a lone Division V win in 2004.
