Hi! You’ve found “Volleyball Notebook,” a periodic look at boys indoor volleyball, “California style.”
I am John Tawa, the founder of the girls national site, PrepVolleyball.com, back in 2003. I am thrilled to be covering California boys volleyball for the CIF again this spring!
My priority at the beginning of every season is to get varsity head coaches on my email list so that I can communicate with all of them at once about rankings, results, story ideas, milestones and anything else that gets all of us excited about this great sport. You tell me; I tell the state. You get the idea.
I’d also love to hear about every single team competing in the state this season. I will not write only about the best teams! Players play because they have passion for our great sport. My media coverage follows passion not talent.
I have set up a form for coaches to complete. This form tells me about a team’s history and tradition, 2024 outlook, key players, tournaments and more. It’s the kind of information a reporter has to have to give context to what he’ll write as the season unfolds.
