Provide a school-based liaison that will act as the main point of contact to work with Special Olympics concerning all Unified Sports/Unified Champion School activities. The liaison focuses on:
- Keeping your Principal and AD involved and informed
- Support from other teachers/staff/coaches on campus to serve as Special Olympics coaches
- Team Recruitment
- Student-athlete with intellectual disabilities
- The best place to start is with Special Education or Adapted Physical Education Students
- Student-athletes without intellectual disabilities
- The best place to start is within General Physical Education or ASB classes
- Student-athlete with intellectual disabilities
- Clearances - High School Athlete Physical
- Identifying practice/competition structure, using best practices
- Ensuring coaches take NFHS Coaching Unified Sports Coaches Course
- Connect with other student groups for support (such as ASB)
