Guidelines for Accomodations

Modification /Accommodation Requests

NFHS - “Each state association may, in keeping with applicable laws, authorize exceptions to NFHS playing rules to provide reasonable accommodations to individual participants with disabilities and/or special needs … The accommodations should not fundamentally alter the sport, heighten risk to the athlete/others, or place opponents at a disadvantage.”

Qualified CIF students with documented disabilities and/or special needs may request reasonable accommodations to allow participation.   Such requests must be made to the Commissioner of the CIF Section in which the school participates.  Parents and students should be prepared to provide any or all of the following; proof of disability, doctors verification, and be prepared to  have external braces/supports visibly inspected by the Section Commissioner or his/her designee.  If the requested accommodation is approved, the CIF Section Commissioner will provide the student a letter authorizing the modification/accommodation.
