Recap: 100th CIF State Track & Field Championships

CLOVIS – The 100th CIF State Track & Field Championships took place June 1-2, at Veterans Memorial Stadium – Buchanan High School, in Clovis. The Serra girls won their second team title since 2012, while the Murrieta Mesa boys won their first State Championship.

The Serra girls repeated in the 4x100 meter relay, good for their third state title all-time. Maddy Denner of Oak Ridge defended her 1600-meter run with a final time of 4:42.77. Abigail Burke of Riverside Poly (second consecutive state crown) and Rachel Glen of Wilson Long Beach tied for first in the girls high jump with a final height of 5-10. Also impressive was Tierra Robinson-Jones of Bishop O’Dowd who won two state titles in both the 200 and 400-meter dash.

Sondre Guttormsen of Davis set a new CIF State Championship Record in the boys pole vault with a final height of 17-10. Sean Lee of Trabuco Hills retained the title as the champ in the boys high jump with a final height of 7-02.
